Ch Oaklara's Majenkir Honey, FCh, CD

Lexi was sired by Am.Ch.Oaklara's Fyodore out of Am.Ch.Majenkir Vikki Valeska. She was bred by Patricia Murphy, of Oaklara Borzoi. She was Judy Carleton's second Borzoi and was the foundation bitch for Judy's Elista kennels. She was white with red spotting and about 29" tall. She had a wonderful, loving temperament and passed it on. She finished her conformation championship easily, by 10 months of age, and was # 9 Borzoi in Canada for 1980 and # 2 bitch, with multiple group placings and very limited showing.

Then Lexi tried lure coursing and was Best of Breed her first time out. She placed or won at every trial, finishing her FCh. in 6 trials. Then came the obedience ring. Like many Borzoi, Lexi was very smart and knew when she could be corrected and when she couldn't. Judy recalls three trials when she did the off leash exercise by herself while Lexi stood and watched her do the heeling pattern. Judy solved the problem by tying a thin line to her collar, after taking the regular leash off and then correcting her. Then she pretended to do this in the ring. She finished her CD with marks in the 190's and was the first Borzoi to attain a triple title of a Canadian conformation championship, a field championship and a C.D.

Lexi also excelled in the whelping box. She was bred 3 times to 3 different sires:

1. Ch. Kelemark's Cathedral C.D. - producing only one pup in 1982, Ch. Elista's Midnight Wind, who turned out to be a top producer, a specialty winner and a group placer.

2. Ch. Oaklara's Mephisto of Elista - producing 8 pups in 1984 of which 2 were shown. Ch. Elista's Walk on the Wild Side, a specialty winner and Ch. Elista's Wild Dove's Cry, who finished with all specialty wins, and is the dam of AM.Can.Bda.Ch.Elista's Magic Dragon V Taugo, a Top Ten Borzoi in the US.

3. AmCanCh. Majenkir Charadei of Jantar - producing 7 pups in 1985, of which 3 were shown. Ch. Elista's Dragan Kaspar, a Top Producer of many champions, including a US Top Ten in AmCanCh. Taugo's Vodka on tha Rocks. Ch. Elista's Draganka Valentina FChX., Canada's # 1 lure courser in 1986, # 2 in 1987 and 1988, and # 5 in 1989, with 3 Best in Feilds. and nearly 700 points. Also Ch. Elista's Dragan Kalita.

Lexi is also the grandmother of many champions and specialty winners, one of which was Ch. Elista's Fleet Wish to Moujik FCh., CD (following in her grandmother's footsteps of a triple title). She was Canada's # 2 bitch for 1989, won a High in Trial, as well as many group and specialty wins in both Canada and the US.

Lexi had other interests besides dog shows and coursing. She used to go horseback riding with Judy, and worked at many fashion shows where she added extra elegance on the runway, especially in the fur coat section. She loved to visit the senior's facilities where she brightened the resident's days with her kind and gentle nature. She also visited kindergarten and lower grade school classes and basked in the attention and pats.

Lexi was Judy and Elista's foundation for a legacy of balanced, sound, well rounded Borzoi. She lives on in her descendants and in many people's memories that knew her.
