Sashya was bred by Dr Carol Hannon and shown and loved by Dr Carol-Anne de Venne with help from Sashya’s adorer Suzanne Brown.

Sashya finished her show championship very quickly and then embarked on a performance career that was truly amazing. She accumulated her Canadian and American CD and her Canadian CDX and had two legs on her UD and then proceeded to take an unusual path for a hound.

She was the first sighthound of any breed to become a Flyball Dog Champion and competed in agility in both Canada and the US. She was still running in agility competitions at 11 ½ years of age.

It was during her four years of touring with Superdogs that Sashya became known all over the country, performing in Vancouver, Toronto, the Calgary Stampede and many more places, doing drill routines, flyball, and becoming the undisputed Highjumping Champion in the show, jumping up to 61 inches over a single bar.

She performed for 5 more years with McCann Professional Dog Trainers at many public events including at the Toronto Skydome during the World Series before 51,000 baseball fans. She brought awareness of the borzoi breed to tens of thousands of people who had never seen one before.

At the age of 10, she went back to the conformation ring winning the Veterans Sweepstakes at the Borzoi Canada Specialty held at the International Borzoi Conference, looking every inch the athlete that she still was.

Thousands of people who encountered her at fairs, exhibitions, tournaments and competitions remember her fire and her affectionate gentleness. She is truly worthy of being honoured for her versatility and her contribution to the profile of our breed.
